Remembering who we always were
Every human is born with a True Self.
It is not something we earn or construct — it is already there, carrying the seeds of who we are meant to be.
Recognition means remembering what was always present, even if it was later hidden by survival strategies.
Core Aspects of the True Self
From the very beginning, each of us carries:
- Personality — the way we naturally move through the world.
- Sensibilities — what we notice, what moves us, what we feel deeply.
- Abilities — the things we are drawn to and naturally good at.
- Orientations and tastes — who we love, what feels right, what brings us joy.
These qualities:
- Are not earned.
- Are not given by others.
- Form the foundation of identity before society touches us.
Emotional Inheritance
When these natural parts are not welcomed by caregivers or culture, something else happens:
- We absorb unspoken fears, silences, and expectations.
- We inherit survival strategies along with love.
- We learn to suppress what they could not face, silence what they could not name, and avoid what they feared.
This process is called emotional inheritance — pain passed down, not invented.
The Beginning of the Split
When our true traits are rejected or punished, we start to:
- Abandon parts of ourselves.
- Hide what feels unsafe.
- Adapt into roles that guarantee acceptance.
This is where the Role Mask begins.
The True Self remains intact, but it is forced underground — waiting for recognition.
Key Concept Anchors
- True Self — innate personality and orientation.
- Role Mask — adaptation built to survive rejection.
- Emotional Inheritance — the transmission of unprocessed fears and silences across generations.
TL;DR (Quick Summary)
- You were born whole, with unique traits already present.
- What was not welcomed became suppressed.
- You inherited fears and silences from others.
- The split began — the start of the Role Mask.
- The True Self is still there, waiting to be recognized.
